Adobe Firefly Review (2026)
What it is
Adobe Firefly is Adobe's family of generative AI models and the name of its standalone web and mobile app. Firefly powers features inside Creative Cloud apps such as Generative Fill in Photoshop, and the Firefly app itself can generate images, vectors, video and audio. Adobe also offers selected partner models from companies including Google, OpenAI, ElevenLabs and Topaz inside its products.
Key features
Based on Adobe's generative credits FAQ (last updated 30 September 2026):
- Text to image and image editing, including recent models such as Firefly Image 5.
- Generate Video: text-to-video and image-to-video at 540p, 720p and 1080p.
- Audio tools: Generate Sound Effects, Generate Music, text-to-speech, and Translate Video and Translate Audio.
- Integration with Creative Cloud: Generative Fill in Photoshop, Generative Extend in Premiere, vector features in Illustrator, and more.
- Partner models: available as premium features that use generative credits.
- Firefly Custom Models (beta): train a model on your own images (500 credits per training, according to Adobe).
- Content Credentials: Adobe's system for attaching provenance information to AI-generated content.

Adobe's FAQ lists these individual Firefly plans and their monthly premium credits:

- Firefly Pro: 4,000 credits per month; also includes Adobe Express Premium and Photoshop on web and mobile.

Adobe's live plans page could not be accessed for this review, so check the official site for current pricing in your region. Creative Cloud Pro subscribers also receive 4,000 premium credits per month with unlimited standard generations, according to Adobe.
How credits work
Adobe divides features into "standard" and "premium". Paid Firefly plans include unlimited standard image and vector generations and a monthly allowance of credits for premium features such as video, audio and partner models. Examples from Adobe's rate card: Generate Video uses 100 credits per second at 1080p, 50 at 720p and 20 at 540p; Firefly Image 5 uses 10 credits per generation. Credits reset monthly and do not roll over.
In practical terms, Firefly Standard's 2,000 monthly credits would cover about 20 seconds of 1080p video, about 100 seconds at 540p, or about 200 Firefly Image 5 generations, according to those rates. Image and vector work on standard models does not draw on that allowance, so most of the budget goes to video, audio and partner models.
Commercial use
Adobe states that outputs from Firefly features without a beta label can be used in commercial projects. Beta outputs can generally be used commercially unless stated otherwise, but are not indemnified for eligible business customers.
