Overview

DreamKid is an app for parents that creates personalised children's stories in which the child is the hero. Its AI storyteller writes, illustrates and narrates a new chapter built around the child's name, age, the world they choose and the companions they bring along. The company describes it as the world's first AI storyteller of this kind; that is its own claim.
How it works
There are three steps. First you build a profile with your child's name and age, the kind of adventure they love and the companions they want. Then the AI writes, illustrates and narrates a unique chapter, which DreamKid says is inspired by the rhythms of human storytellers. Finally you read together, or let the narration carry the story, and a new story can be made whenever your child wants one.
Story features
Age, interests, companions and a courage level shape every tale. Worlds shown on the site include Pirate Bay, Candy Canyon, Enchanted Forest and Toy Metropolis, with companions such as Captain Coral, Patch the Parrot, Anne Anchor, Billy Blackbeard and Madam Mermaid. Each story follows a hero's journey arc, with chapters titled The Call, The Challenge and The Choice, ending with the child saving the day. Warm voices narrate each character and page, and every chapter has illustrations. A live demo on the site lets you try a story by entering a name, age, world and companion. The FAQ also covers including family and friends in stories.
Pricing
There are two plans, both including a new story any time, personalisation for one child, AI narration and the full illustrated library. Weekly costs €3.99 per week, and Monthly costs €12.99 per month, which DreamKid says saves 20%. You can cancel any time, the library works offline, and the first chapter is free when you download the app. Multi-device access is supported.
Who it suits
It suits parents of children around ages 4 to 9 who want bedtime or reading-time stories that feature their child.
Things to consider
DreamKid says its stories are safe and age-appropriate, but it is still worth reading new stories with young children and reviewing the privacy policy, since profiles include a child's name and age. Personalised AI stories work best alongside, not instead of, books by human authors and reading aloud together.
