Overview

EPUB Translator is an online service that uses artificial intelligence to translate EPUB e‑books. The tool is aimed at readers who prefer a fully translated e‑book file rather than a collection of extracted passages. When an author uploads a DRM‑free EPUB file, the service retains the structure of the original book, including chapters, images, styles and the table of contents. It produces two possible outputs from the same underlying translation: a translation‑only edition and a bilingual edition that preserves the original text alongside the translation on a paragraph‑by‑paragraph basis. This allows a reader to read the book in the target language while still being able to reference the original text within the same file.
Key features
- Translates DRM-free EPUB books while keeping chapters, images, styles and the table of contents
- Translation-only or bilingual paragraph-by-paragraph editions
- Free opening-chapter preview without registering
- 41 target languages; glossary and chapter summaries for consistent names
- Priced per book, shown before you start; no subscription or credits
A free opening preview is available for each file, which can be accessed without registering. The preview shows the opening chapter with the original text alongside the translated version, giving the user an opportunity to verify the quality of the language pair, check names, dialogue and terminology, and decide whether the entire book should be translated. The preview does not provide a full translation; it is only a sampling. Full‑book translation requires the creation of an account and is charged per book. The price for translating a book is displayed before the user starts the translation process, and no subscription or credit purchase is needed. The service currently supports 41 target languages. The language of the source is inferred from the EPUB metadata but can be adjusted by the user before the translation starts. A glossary feature and chapter summaries can be supplied to improve consistency of names and terminology across the book.
The translated or bilingual EPUB files are downloadable once the background translation process completes. They can be opened in any EPUB‑compatible application or e‑reader. The service is limited to EPUB files; it does not directly translate PDFs, nor does it provide OCR or DRM removal. Users are advised to ensure they have the legal right to process the content. While the structure of the EPUB is preserved, the final appearance on a given reading application may differ because line breaks, page counts or layout can change, especially for complex tables or heavily styled pages. Because AI translation is not perfect, the free preview feature and publicly downloadable example e‑books allow users to check accuracy before committing to a full translation.
To use the service, the user visits epubtranslator.com, uploads an EPUB file within the size limit shown on the site, selects the desired target language, and then reviews the opening preview. The website also provides a guide, a list of supported languages, and pricing information.
