Overview

Claude is an AI assistant created by Anthropic that emphasizes safety, accuracy, and security. It is available on the web, iOS, Android, and as a desktop application, letting you chat, write code, and create documents from a single interface. You can use it for free or upgrade to a paid plan to get higher usage limits and extra features.

When you open a chat, you can type a question or command in plain language. Claude will generate natural‑language responses, draft emails, outline reports, or produce code blocks in languages such as Python or JavaScript. If you ask for a data visualization, it will produce a corresponding chart. Claude can also fetch recent information from the web, integrate that into your conversation, and remember context across multiple turns so you don't have to restate facts each time.

The assistant can create and edit files directly inside the chat. By using a “Create file” prompt, you can ask Claude to generate a PDF, an HTML file, or a spreadsheet and then download it. It can execute code snippets in a sandboxed environment and return the output, which is handy for quick debugging or calculations. For team work, the Team plan lets multiple users share a single account, organize discussions into unlimited projects, and assign teammates to chats. The Enterprise plan expands this with connector tools, API credits for building on the Claude Platform, and priority access during periods of high traffic.

Claude supports integration with Slack and Google Workspace. In practice, you add Claude as an app to a Slack channel and then send it commands; it replies in the channel, helps draft messages, or pulls in documents from Google Drive. The same integration works on Google Workspace for schedule management or document drafting. The ability to connect other contexts via connectors means you can, for example, bring in a database query or a custom API to enrich answers.

The free tier allows you to try the core features but limits the number of tokens you can consume per month. The Pro plan increases the token allowance and adds higher output limits, plus early access to newer Claude models.
