Linkly AI

Linkly AI is a desktop app that turns the files on your computer into a private knowledge library that AI assistants and agents can search and read. Instead of curating a knowledge base by hand or uploading documents to each new AI tool, you add local folders and Linkly AI indexes them automatically, keeping the index up to date. The idea is that models and agents come and go, but your context stays yours and stays on your machine.

What it indexes

Linkly AI parses about 25 everyday formats, including PDF, Markdown, Word, PowerPoint, plain text, HTML and EPUB documents, JPG and PNG images, MP3 and WAV audio, and MP4 and MOV video. It uses local OCR to read text in images and local speech-to-text to transcribe audio and video. Everything becomes searchable with both full-text and semantic search. You can also save agent-friendly web clips and card notes, and organise material into knowledge libraries that can be shared.

Working with agents

Linkly AI connects to AI tools through MCP and a command-line interface. Supported tools listed on the site include Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor, Windsurf, GitHub Copilot, Gemini CLI, Raycast AI, n8n, Dify and LM Studio. Once connected, an agent can use Linkly's built-in tools to search, compare, read and dig through your material. There is also a built-in chatbot that works with your own AI provider key.

Pricing

The Free plan is $0 forever. It works offline with every local feature, including parsing, search, MCP and CLI access, web clips and the bring-your-own-key chatbot, along with limited basic AI models and cloud library quota. Pro was offered at a limited-time early-bird price of $29 a year, down from $66. It adds curated frontier models, an MCP tunnel for reaching local files from ChatGPT and Claude.ai, more cloud quota with access control, and cloud parsing, speech-to-text and embedding models. Pro comes with a 7-day full refund.

Things to consider

Indexing happens locally, but when you connect an agent or cloud model, the content it reads is sent to that provider, so check what you share with each tool. Some Pro features are marked as coming soon.
