Overview

Lovable calls itself an AI software engineer for people who can't code. You chat with it in plain language ("build a bug tracker for my team with a kanban board"), and it writes a working web app while you watch, then publishes it. Lovable says anyone can build for the web this way, with no technical knowledge needed.
What makes it more than a prototype tool is the infrastructure underneath. Lovable Cloud handles hosting and authentication, and the platform adds payments, analytics, connectors to outside services, agent integrations and SEO settings. You can keep iterating on the design until you're happy, then ship it on a lovable.app address or your own domain.
Credits and plans
Everything paid runs on credits. Sending messages to Lovable while building uses them, and so does hosting apps on Cloud and running AI features inside the apps you publish. Lovable notes that a credit's value and the rate at which it's used depend on your plan and the feature, so credits aren't always equal across tiers.
- Free: $0, no card. Workspace-private projects, unlimited collaborators, 5 lovable.app domains, community support.
- Pro: $25 a month, with 100 monthly credits and unlimited users. Adds custom domains, credit rollovers (one month on monthly plans), on-demand top-ups, roles and permissions, design systems, and removal of the Lovable badge.
- Business: $50 a month. Adds a team workspace, internal-only publishing, personal projects, SSO, a security centre and priority support.
- Enterprise: a platform fee with volume pricing, plus SCIM, audit logs, EU inference, data residency options and a custom SLA.
Yearly billing gives two months free, and students can get up to 50% off Pro. Prices checked October 2026 on lovable.dev/pricing.
A good fit if...
You're a founder, marketer or ops person who needs an internal tool, a landing page or an MVP and doesn't want to wait for a developer. Small teams get real value from unlimited collaborators even on the free plan.
Watch out for
Credit use is hard to estimate before you start, especially once published apps run their own AI features. Generated code still needs a security and logic review before real customer data goes in, and complex apps can outgrow what prompting alone handles well.

Pros and cons
Pros
- You can build websites and web apps just by chatting, no coding required.
- There is a free plan to start before paying for more credits.
- Plan Mode costs a flat one credit per message, which helps with planning work cheaply.
- Hosting and AI features for your app run from the same credit balance.
Cons
- Credit costs vary by task complexity, so it's hard to predict spend.
- Credit values differ between plans, which makes comparing them confusing.
- Bigger changes like adding authentication eat more credits than small edits.
