Overview

v0 is Vercel's AI app builder. You describe a page or an app, v0 generates working code with a live preview, and you can publish it to Vercel in one click. The product has moved from v0.dev to v0.app, and it now covers full-stack web apps, not just interface components: v0 says it plans the work, creates tasks and connects to databases as it builds.

Developers will like the escape hatches. You can sync a project with a GitHub repository and push code directly, integrate outside APIs, and define design systems (colours, typography, styles) to reuse across projects. Design Mode gives visual controls for fine-tuning with a live preview, and there's a template gallery of landing pages, dashboards, components and small games. There's also an iOS app for building from your phone, and v0 advertises that you can use your ChatGPT plan inside it.

Who it's for

Front-end developers and designers who want a fast first version in real code they can keep working on, and teams already deploying on Vercel. Non-developers can use it too, but the GitHub and deployment workflow is where it stands out.

Pros: code you can own and push to your repo; one-click deploys; transparent per-model token rates.
Cons: 7 free messages a day is tight; token billing makes heavy sessions costly on the bigger models; on the Free and Plus plans, training isn't switched off by default (Business turns it off by default, and Enterprise never uses your data).

Alternatives

Lovable and Replit handle more of the backend for non-developers. If you prefer working in a local editor with AI help, look at Cursor or Cline.
